Uttama Villain is sort of my tribute to K. Balachander: Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan says his upcoming film Uttama Villain is sort of tribute to his mentor K. Balachander. The film, which is currently under post-production, will hit the screens during the first quarter of 2015. When asked about whether Kamal Haasan feels that atheism leaves a void after death in an interview, he made an immediate reference to his film Uttama Villain to support his answer.

Mortality doesn’t bother me. It’s a part of life, not apart from it. What’s a sentence without a full stop? In a way, Uttama Villain deals with a similar subject. You’ll know more about the similarity when you watch the film. I play an actor, and K. Balachander, my real life mentor, plays the same role in the film. The film is sort of my tribute to him,” said Kamal Haasan.

Directed by Ramesh Aravind and produced by Lingusamy’s Thirupathi Brothers, Uttama Villain has Kamal Haasan in a dual role and has an all-star cast including Oorvasi, Jayaram, Parvathi Menon, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Parvathi Nair.
