Trade Buzz: Ashwath Marimuthu narrates script to Rajinikanth for Thalaivar 173

Ashwath Marimuthu’s script narration to Rajinikanth has reportedly received a positive response, making him a strong contender for Thalaivar 173.

Speculation continues to build around Superstar Rajinikanth’s next project, tentatively titled Thalaivar 173, with fresh trade buzz suggesting a major development on the directorial front. According to industry buzz, filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu, known for delivering the blockbusters Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, has reportedly narrated a script to Rajinikanth, and the response is said to have been encouraging. Sources indicate that the narration was received positively, positioning Ashwath as a strong front runner to direct the much-anticipated film.

The project will be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), adding further weight and credibility to the speculation. While nothing has been officially announced on the director, the prospect of Ashwath collaborating with Rajinikanth has already sparked considerable interest within trade circles and among fans.

Interestingly, Ramkumar Balakrishnan, the National Award-winning director of Parking, was earlier rumoured to be leading the race for Thalaivar 173. Both Ramkumar and Ashwath share another common connection, as they are reportedly committed to upcoming projects with Silambarasan TR, namely STR49 and STR51. This overlap has made both filmmakers prominent contenders for Rajinikanth’s next venture following Jailer 2.

For now, these developments remain in the realm of speculation, with clarity expected only after an official confirmation from the makers. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently busy with Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, which boasts a star-studded ensemble cast. The high profile sequel is slated for a June 12th theatrical release, and expectations remain sky-high as the Superstar continues to command the spotlight.
