Director Vikraman, the president of Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association (TANTIS), has announced a new solution against story theft in wake of the recent social media furore on the alleged intellectual theft involved in Vijay – AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi. Speaking at the birthday celebration of veteran filmmaker Mithradoss organized by directors union, Vikraman said assistant directors can submit their stories to TANTIS and get them officially registered henceforth.
However, it is not certain if this would be a failproof solution to the rampant intellectual theft that plagues the industry right now. Instead of an instant solution, a well-thoughout, detailed process must be put in place and implemented soon to refrain directors from their high-handedness.
