The sudden demise of stuntman SM Raju, also known as Mohan Raj, during the shoot of Pa Ranjith’s upcoming film Vettuvam has left the Tamil film fraternity in deep sorrow. Raju tragically passed away on July 13th while executing a high-risk car stunt. Despite thorough safety arrangements overseen by action choreographer Dilip Subbarayan, the mishap proved fatal.
Speaking to Kumudam, renowned stunt master Silva recounted how several top actors extended their support to the bereaved family. Actor Arya was the first to reach out following the tragedy. Vijay expressed disbelief and praised Raju’s precision in stunt work. “How could something like this happen to someone so meticulous?” Vijay reportedly asked.
Silva further revealed that Silambarasan (STR) pledged a generous donation and promptly helped the family, while Suriya assured financial support for Raju’s children’s education through his team.
Production house Neelam Productions shared a heartfelt statement mourning the loss, calling Raju a dedicated professional and a pillar of the stunt team. “We are devastated for his family and everyone who admired Mohan Raj Anna,” it read.
Pa Ranjith and three others have been booked under charges including negligence and culpable homicide.
