Suriya 48: Suriya reunites with TJ Gnanavel for Hombale Films’ next; pooja ceremony reportedly held

Suriya is set to reunite with acclaimed filmmaker TJ Gnanavel for his next project, tentatively titled Suriya 48. The film will be produced by Hombale Films, marking the production house’s first collaboration with the actor after the blockbuster success of Karuppu.

According to reports, the film was officially launched with a pooja ceremony held earlier today. Reports further suggest that Suriya 48 will be based on the inspiring life of Tamil Nadu’s renowned “₹5 doctor,” a physician who became widely respected for charging just ₹5 as a consultation fee, making quality healthcare accessible to thousands of patients. If confirmed, the film will see Suriya headline another biographical drama following his critically acclaimed performances in socially relevant subjects.

Adding to the anticipation, the music for the film is said to be composed by Sai Abhyankkar, who continues to emerge as one of the most sought-after young composers in the industry. The makers’ social media announcement also confirms that Kayadu Lohar has joined the cast of the film. The project will feature cinematography by SR Kathir and editing by Philomin Raj.

Suriya 48 also marks the reunion of Suriya and director TJ Gnanavel after the critically acclaimed Jai Bhim, which received widespread appreciation for its powerful storytelling and social impact. Expectations are naturally high as the duo teams up once again for another content-driven project.

Meanwhile, Suriya has a busy release calendar ahead. The actor will next be seen in Vishwanath and Sons, which is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14. He also has Suriya 47, directed by Jithu Madhavan, in the pipeline, where he is reportedly playing a police officer.
