Amid speculation that STR 49 was dropped, leading STR to reportedly move on to Vetrimaaran’s project – director Ramkumar has officially clarified that the film is still in development.
Ramkumar, who won the National Award for Parking, said in a recent interview, “After the National Award, my responsibility has increased, especially for my next film with Silambarasan TR. STR is also keen that the writing should be top-notch. It’ll be a completely college-based entertainer.”
The film, launched in early May as STR 49 under the Dawn Pictures banner, initially featured Santhanam, Kayadu Lohar, and music composer Sai Abhyankkar. While delays in writing have sparked dropped-film rumors, the director confirmed it’s simply a matter of refining the script.
It now remains to be seen whether the original cast and crew will be retained or a new lineup will be introduced. Fans can rest assured – STR 49 is not dropped, and the team is focused on delivering a strong, youthful entertainer.
