Soundarya Rajinikanth has opened up about her father, Superstar Rajinikanth, revealing that he is currently writing his autobiography and that she is closely involved in the process.
Speaking in a recent Variety interview, Soundarya said the book is shaping up into a work that could remain relevant for generations. She compared its potential impact to Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, which she considers one of the books people can repeatedly revisit for inspiration.
Soundarya believes Rajinikanth’s extraordinary journey gives the autobiography a unique significance. She also revealed that if his life is eventually adapted into a feature film, directing or producing the project would be one of the most personally and professionally meaningful ventures of her career. She described her father as her role model and someone she looks up to in every aspect of her life.
Soundarya on the Advice That Stayed With Her
Soundarya also recalled an important piece of advice Rajinikanth gave her about cinema. He told her that a filmmaker cannot fit every creative idea into one project. Instead, creators must identify what belongs to the particular film, complete it with conviction and save their remaining ideas for future works.
According to Soundarya, the advice taught her that creativity also requires clarity and discipline. She acknowledged that following this approach is not always easy, particularly when several ideas compete for attention during the filmmaking process.
The filmmaker also spoke about the expectations attached to being Rajinikanth’s daughter. She considers being born into his legacy her greatest blessing, but admitted that it naturally comes with scrutiny and comparisons. Despite those expectations, Soundarya has no regrets about choosing cinema, as she genuinely enjoys the industry and her work within it.
Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Soundarya revealed that her production series Love is currently in its final stages of delivery and is being planned for an October release. She is also collaborating with Mahesh Thambi on her next film, which is scheduled to begin production in October.
Another project with Abishan is expected to begin next year, with the director reportedly almost finalised. Soundarya continues to expand her work as a producer and filmmaker while building an identity of her own within the industry.
Rajinikanth Begins Dharman Shoot in Hyderabad
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has reached Hyderabad for the next schedule of Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The shooting has commenced at an RFC set, with the upcoming schedule expected to feature action portions as well.
Tollywood actor Ram Pothineni is set to play a key role in the film. His portions are expected to begin towards the end of August. The film is positioned as a commercial entertainer and marks Rajinikanth’s collaboration with the Dragon director.
Rajinikanth also has Jailer 2 lined up for release on October 15, 2026, with the sequel directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and music by Anirudh Ravichander.
