Now, the makers have postponed the film’s release due to the tense situation in the state on Jallikattu demonstrations that have suddenly turned violent and in the interest of all the stakeholders of the project.

You all might be aware of the fact that the People of Tamil Nadu have been protesting against the ban imposed by Supreme Court of India on Jallikattu Cultural sport conducted during the Pongal festival. For Past one week protest have been conducted by students, youth and by the people from all walks of life in the streets of Tamil Nadu and in every part of the World to lift the ban and impose new laws and amend the PCA Act to conduct Jallikattu in Tamilnadu without any further interference by any third Parties. Unfortunately, today Morning due to outbreak of violence there was huge commotion between the students and Police force. Currently entire Tamil Nadu is going through a crisis situation. Many vehicles have been burnt by some anti social elements and public properties have been damaged. Few people have also lost their lives in the agitation today and high tension is prevailing over the entire State. Tamil People living in Tamil Nadu and around the entire World are saddened and their sentiments are deeply hurt.”

“Now people have started to agitate in streets to condemn the act of police and police have initiated Lathi charge against the protesters. There is an unrest situation in the State and it is completely beyond our control. Releasing SI-3 film under such a distress situation will have a negative impact on the film collections and also on the reputation of the stakeholders. It will be very difficult to monetise and recoup the funds invested in the Film under the current circumstances. Considering the sentiments of the Tamil people, prevailing situation in the State, for the general good of stakeholders and all the other vital factors, we regret to postpone the release from 26th of January 2017 and the further date will be intimated soon to you, hope you will understand the situation and respect the sentiments of the people. Thank you for cooperating with us,” reads an official statement from Studio Green’s legal advisor.
