Silambarasan TR has raised expectations around his upcoming film Arasan, stating that the Vetrimaaran directorial could create an impact for Tamil cinema similar to what Dhurandhar achieved for Hindi cinema.
Speaking at a recent event, Silambarasan described Arasan as a large-scale project that has been mounted with a realistic approach. He revealed that the film has been shot across several real locations and will feature his character in multiple get-ups, covering different stages of his life from youth to old age.
The actor also highlighted Vetrimaaran’s commitment to perfection and suggested that the filmmaker is taking the required time to present the story in the best possible manner. According to Silambarasan, Arasan is not a small film and has a significant journey at its centre, with several characters and different looks forming an important part of the narrative.
However, the film will not arrive during the Pongal 2027 festival window, despite earlier expectations of a release during the period. Silambarasan explained that the team could accelerate production and meet the deadline, but doing so would mean compromising on the quality of the film. He stressed that rushing the project would be a mistake and that the team has instead chosen to shoot it properly.
As a special treat for fans, the makers are planning to bring The World of Arasan to theatres during Diwali. The special video will feature footage from the portions already completed and offer audiences a glimpse into Vetrimaaran’s world before the film’s eventual theatrical release.
Arasan also carries a connection to Vetri Maaran’s Vada Chennai universe. Vijay Sethupathi joins the franchise, while Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, Kishore and Ameer are expected to reprise their respective characters. The film features Anirudh for music, Velraj as cinematographer, Ramar as editor, Jacki as art director and Peter Hein as stunt choreographer. Kalaippuli S Thanu is producing the film under V Creations.
With Silambarasan expressing confidence in its potential impact and the team refusing to compromise on production quality, expectations surrounding Arasan have now reached another level.
