A Late Night Walk with Veena

Street-smart, fairly enjoyable rhythms from Imman.

In line with the albums of Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan, Imman comes up with a soundtrack that stays in line with the film and also provides some playlist material. The title track and a flagship melody will help it gain momentum walking towards the release!

Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Samantha

Music: Imman

Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Director: Ponram

Label: Think Music

Vaaren Vaaren Seema Raja: Singers – Diwakar, Kavitha Gopi

Easily one of the most grandest ever intro numbers in Sivakarthikeyan’s career, this one is powerful from the word go. Diwakar’s vocals give it what it needs with the hook helping more. Special mention to the lyrics – a total celebration on the whole. Our PICK!

Onnavitta Yaarum Yenakilla: Singers – Sean Roldan, Shreya Ghoshal

A very basic but accessible duet sung by Sean and Shreya. The song has a nicely knitted orchestration, staying true to Imman’s earlier melodies with Shreya Ghoshal. Our PICK.

Varum Aana Varaadhu: Singers – Imman, Vandana Srinivasan

Catchy folk with an enjoyable pause-and-flow composition, infused with some band instruments too. Imman is in good form with the mic, while the lyrics comfortably play to the gallery.

Paraak Paraak: Singer – Senthil Ganesh

What starts off as a grand introduction for the ‘Kadambavel Raja’, then turns into a barely engaging track with a done-and-dusted kuthu tune. Senthil Ganesh’s singing debut is dipped in old-school grandeur, still might escape as a winner despite the drawbacks.

Machakkanni: Singer – Imman

Imman does decently well as a composer, rewriting one of his old tunes, but the singer in him doesn’t rise up to the occasion. Passable.

Onnavitta Yaarum Yenakilla: Singers – Sathyaprakash, Shreya Ghoshal

An alternative version of the second track in the album, having Sathyaprakash in place of Shreya Ghoshal. The song retains the same effect, ending up on the successful side again.

Seemaraja Swag: Singers – Shenbagaraj, Vignesh Narayanan, Santosh Hariharan

Mostly made up of chorus renditions, the song is a massy setup for Sivakarthikeyan’s image and probably, the third act of the film.

A Late Night Walk with Veena: Punya Srinivas

Interesting idea by Imman to bring about a veena instrumental for the melody track ‘Onnavitta Yaarum Yenakilla’. With a slightly computerised background helping it, this is a lovely listen. Our Final Pick!
