The team of Scene opened up about the film at its pre-release event in Dubai. Director Jithu Madhavan, Suriya, Nazriya and Naslen shared their experiences of working on the film. The team also spoke about the film’s humor, its characters and the excitement surrounding its Diwali release.
Director Jithu Madhavan revealed that Suriya’s reaction during the story narration was a memorable moment for him. “Every story is perfect for Suriya, but whether he likes it or not is what matters the most. After I narrated the story, he liked it. Just five minutes into the narration, he started laughing. That was a proud moment for me,” he said.
Jithu added that he could not reveal much about the film before its release. “I can’t reveal at least 70% of the movie right now. I will be able to talk about it only after the film’s release,” he said. The director also spoke about the growing reach of Indian cinema across languages. He noted that audiences are now watching films from different industries, with fewer barriers between them. He expressed confidence that Tamil audiences would enjoy Scene as well.
Suriya revealed that he had been hoping to collaborate with Jithu Madhavan after watching his films Aavesham and Romancham. “I was silently manifesting to work with Jithu Madhavan. I never thought it would happen so soon. When I met him and listened to the story, I usually listen silently during narrations. But within five minutes, I had to break into laughter. I completely enjoyed the film,” he said. Suriya added that Jithu has created a different world with Scene.
The actor also praised Nazriya’s character, Maya, describing her as a complete role. He welcomed Naslen, who is making his Tamil debut with the film, and expressed hope that the actor would continue to work in Tamil cinema. Suriya also noted that Scene marks music composer Sushin Shyam’s first Tamil film.
Speaking about the film’s genre, Suriya said that Scene could be described as a crime thriller or a murder mystery. However, he believes Jithu Madhavan’s humor will take centre stage. “I like to keep my film knots a little predictable. It will be a fresh film. You can call it a crime thriller or a murder mystery, but everything will be overshadowed by Jithu Madhavan’s humor. It will be a small, beautiful family entertainer,” he said.
Suriya also reflected on his 28-year career and described Scene as his 48th film. He said the film would arrive during the Diwali season and expressed confidence that audiences would enjoy it, just as they did Karuppu and Vishwanath And Sons.
Nazriya, who plays the female lead, shared her excitement about returning to Dubai, where she studied. “I am always happy to come back home. I have studied here in Dubai. After 12 years, I am doing a Tamil film. Thank you, Jithu, for trusting me. This has been such an amazing journey. Thanks to Suriya sir and Naslen,” she said. Nazriya encouraged audiences to watch the film on November 6, promising a hilarious experience in theatres.
Naslen, who plays the antagonist, said that his visit to Dubai felt special as it was connected to his first Tamil film. He thanked Suriya, Nazriya and Jithu Madhavan for the opportunity, and asked audiences to watch Scene and share their feedback. He also expressed hope that he would receive the same love from Tamil audiences.
Suriya further spoke about the film’s message and the importance of positive thinking. Referring to a dialogue from Scene: “You’re the best, and you can do anything” – he said that audiences would connect with the line after watching the film. He also shared his belief in manifestation, explaining that positive thoughts and faith in one’s goals can help bring good things into life.
A teaser of Scene was also screened at the Dubai event. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, during the Diwali weekend.
