Scene: Is Suriya playing a blind cop? Writer Dravid Selvam clears the air

Actor and writer Dravid Selvam dismisses speculation about Suriya playing a visually impaired cop in Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan and featuring Nazriya Nazim and Naslen.

Actor Suriya’s upcoming film Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan, has sparked curiosity among fans since the makers unveiled its title glimpse. Now, Actor & writer Dravid Selvam has clarified a key detail about the actor’s character, putting an end to speculation that he plays a visually impaired police officer.

The rumors began after the title glimpse introduced Suriya as a witty cop. In one of the opening scenes, his character walks with support from another police officer, played by Raj Priyan. This led many viewers to wonder whether the character had a visual impairment.

However, Dravid Selvam has now dismissed these theories. Speaking to Cinema Express while promoting Suriya’s other upcoming film, Drones, the writer confirmed that Suriya does not play a blind character in Scene. He also urged fans not to draw conclusions based on speculation and asked them to wait for the film’s release.

Scene marks Jithu Madhavan’s Tamil directorial debut. The filmmaker previously gained attention through Malayalam films such as Romancham and Aavesham. The upcoming project brings him together with Suriya for an action entertainer that continues to keep several plot details under wraps.

The film also stars Nazriya Nazim and Naslen in important roles. Recent promotional material has offered a glimpse of Nazriya’s character through the first single, ‘Aathi Iva Yarraa’. Meanwhile, speculation continues over Naslen’s role, although the makers have yet to confirm whether he plays the antagonist. Actors Anandraj and Lal are also part of the cast.

Suriya and Jyotika are producing the film under their Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment banners, with Jaishree Damodaran serving as co-producer. The technical team includes composer Sushin Shyam, cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, editor Ajmal Sabu and stunt director Chethan D’Souza.

With the promotional campaign gaining momentum, Scene continues to generate interest among audiences. Dravid Selvam’s clarification has now ruled out one of the major theories surrounding Suriya’s character, while the filmmakers continue to keep the film’s central story under wraps.

The makers of Scene released the film’s first single, ‘Aathi Iva Yarraa’, on October 8. Composed by Sushin Shyam, the song features lyrics and vocals by Rajpriyan. The track is also available in Telugu under the title ‘Ammo Idi Evarraa’. Meanwhile, Scene stars Suriya as police officer Inbaraj, with Nazriya Nazim playing the female lead and Naslen in an important role. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, coinciding with Diwali.
