Sasikumar voices support for Raju Murugan ahead of My Lord release

Sasikumar shares his belief that filmmakers like Raju Murugan should always be supported through successes and setbacks.

Actor/Filmmaker Sasikumar has voiced strong support for Raju Murugan, stressing that creative talents like him should never face setbacks. The comments came during a recent press interaction ahead of Sasikumar’s upcoming film My Lord, which is scheduled to release in theatres on February 13th. Raju Murugan returns as a director with this project after a three-year break following Japan, which received mixed audience response.

Sasikumar revealed that when Raju Murugan approached him with the story of My Lord, he encouraged the director to present it exactly as he envisioned it. He made it clear that he did not want any changes made for his own sake and chose to be part of the film without altering its core. “Directors like Raju Murugan deserve support, and they should never lose,” Sasikumar said, reflecting the belief shared by his collaborators and producers.

He also addressed misconceptions about the film’s theme. Contrary to speculation, Sasikumar explained that My Lord is not a full-fledged courtroom drama. Instead, it explores what happens when an ordinary person gains authority, focusing on the journey of the protagonist Muthusirpi.

At the press event, Sasikumar also expressed gratitude to fellow filmmaker Bala for attending and praised his co-stars, especially Guru Somasundaram for his performance. The film’s cast includes Chaithra J Achar, marking her second Tamil role after 3BHK, along with Asha Sharath, Jayaprakash, Gopi Nainar, and Vasumithra.

My Lord has garnered attention for its ensemble team and its blend of social themes with engaging storytelling, making it one of the anticipated Tamil releases this year.
