Sasikumar confirms genre of his next direction movie, a major comeback after 15 years

The announcement was made during an interaction held to mark the 17th anniversary of his landmark film Subramaniapuram. Sasikumar shared that the script for the upcoming period drama is ready, and the team is planning to begin shooting in 2026. The filmmaker added that he has been dedicating considerable time to reading and research to bring authenticity and depth to the film’s historical setting.

Reflecting on his filmmaking approach, Sasikumar recalled how he carefully studied Madurai’s streets and culture while preparing Subramaniapuram. For this new project, he is taking a similar immersive approach, but through extensive reading and exploration of historical material.
