Sarvam Thaala Maayam
Peter Beat Yethu
Fresh, deep and lovely!
Summary : With Sarvam Thaala Maayam, Rajiv Menon and AR Rahman bring about the magic from their earlier days to present a lovable soundtrack that is full of life and musical purity. All of it might not be playlist material, but what it gives you as a package is film music in top quality. There’s something in it for everybody.
Cast: GV Prakash, Aparna Balamurali
Music: AR Rahman
Lyrics: Madhan Karky, Arunraja Kamaraj, Na Muthukumar
Director: Rajiv Menon
Sarvam Thaala Maayam: Singer – Haricharan
There’s a terrific flow in this song, right from the start. Smooth as butter, Haricharan’s vocals add the very important zest to the lines and help it stay on your mind. This is beautiful stuff from AR Rahman, channeling his vintage vibes. Our PICK.
Maya Maya: Singer – Chinmayi
Chinmayi’s voice in AR Rahman’s music has always been special, and this is no less. The track might have a deja-vu from some other solos of the composer, but the subtle feel that it brings is its biggest plus. Our PICK.
Peter Beat Yethu: Singer – GV Prakash, Sathyaprakash, Arjun Chandy
A partly-catchy, partly-crooked rhythm that talks about the celebrations and love for a star-idol. GV Prakash is apt on the mic, receiving good support from Sathyaprakash and Arjun Chandy. The chorus portions are the advantage here.
Varalama: Singer – Sriram Parthasarathy
Varalama is an excellently composed and presented track from the Rajiv Menon – AR Rahman combo. The Carnatic base and the minimalistic instrumentation couples itself beautifully with Sriram’s vocals, while the lyrics manage to keep your attention pinned throughout. Our PICK.
Dingu Dongu: Singers – Bamba Bakya, Anthony Daasan
Very interesting choice to make both Bamba Bakya and Anthony Daasan croon the same number, but the cake is taken away by the children in the chorus, who aid in making this a very trippy track on the whole. Fine stuff!
Maakelera Vichaaramu: Singers – Bombay Jayashri
Who better than Bombay Jayashri to sing this one. A full-fledged Carnatic track that has beautifully been set up without any adulterations. Should make more sense after we see the visuals.
