Sarvam Maya is a warm, feel-good fantasy drama that blends humor, emotions, and human values with a comforting ease. Anchored by Nivin Pauly’s familiar charm, the film largely banks on simplicity and sincerity rather than high-concept storytelling, and for the most part, it works.

The film follows Prabhendu (Nivin Pauly), an aspiring guitarist born into a wealthy family of traditional priests. While his family expects him to continue their religious lineage, Prabhendu dreams of carving his own musical identity. Circumstances force him to return to his native town, where he chooses to live independently, teaming up with his cousin Rupesh (Aju Varghese) and taking on small responsibilities without relying on his father’s wealth.

The first half sets the tone as a breezy entertainer. A turning point arrives when Prabhendu is asked to perform a pooja for a boy believed to be possessed. This incident introduces Riya Shibu, a friendly ghost who begins accompanying him. Their interactions are narrated with light-hearted humor, playful banter, and situational comedy, making the first half an enjoyable and relaxed watch.

The second half shifts gears emotionally. As Prabhendu’s bond with Riya deepens, his life begins to improve – his musical career gains momentum, and his strained relationship with his father slowly heals. Alongside this emotional arc runs the central mystery: Riya’s forgotten identity, the circumstances of her death, and her unresolved past. The search undertaken by Prabhendu and Riya forms the emotional spine of the latter half, unfolding in a wholesome manner that balances smiles, tears, and tender moments. The brief appearances by Vineeth and Methil Devika towards the climax add a poignant emotional layer that lands effectively.

Performance wise, Nivin Pauly delivers a comforting, assured act, excelling in both comedy and emotional scenes. Riya Shibu is a revelation, bringing energy, warmth, and vulnerability to her role. Aju Varghese is reliably entertaining, while Janardhanan leaves a mark despite limited screen time. Preity Mukhundan sparkles in her brief role, especially in the romantic and dance sequences.

Technically, Sharan Velayudhan’s cinematography is pleasing, and Justin Prabhakaran’s music complements the film’s soul beautifully. Akhil Sathyan’s writing and direction keep the narrative grounded and engaging.

Overall, Sarvam Maya is a wholesome family entertainer that blends fantasy with heartfelt emotions. It celebrates kindness, relationships, and self discovery – and most importantly, brings back the Nivin Pauly audiences love watching.
