The trailer of Karthi’s much-awaited Sardar 2 is out, promising a grand spy thriller packed with action, strong performances and impressive technical work. The film serves as both a prequel and sequel to its predecessor.
Karthi returns in a dual role as father and son. The trailer hints at a bigger scale while keeping the story rooted in strong emotions. The actor also gets plenty of commercial moments, with action sequences and powerful dialogues adding to the appeal.
SJ Suryah plays the antagonist and appears to have a significant role in the film. In recent interviews, the actor has expressed his excitement about the character. Following Maanaadu and Mark Antony, he has reportedly considered this role one of his most satisfying performances. His face-off with Karthi is expected to be one of the major highlights of Sardar 2.
Malavika Mohanan makes a brief appearance in the trailer. However, her character seems to have a strong action angle. The film also features Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, Rajisha Vijayan, Balaji Sakthivel and others in important roles.
Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 blends spy-thriller elements with commercial entertainment. The film also marks music composer Sam CS’ 100th project. George C Williams handles the cinematography, while Vijay Velukutty takes care of the editing.
The technical department also includes production designer Rajeevan Nambiar and art department members MSP Madhavan and B. Sekar. Their work adds to the film’s grand visual scale.
Backed by Prince Pictures, Sardar 2 is mounted as one of the production house’s biggest ventures. The film is slated for a grand worldwide release on September 10.
