Actor-comedian Santhanam has signed his next film as a lead, and the project will explore the intriguing concept of a time loop. The upcoming film, tentatively titled Santa 20, will mark his 20th outing as a lead actor and will be directed by newcomer Sudhaman Krishna.
The film is described as a detective thriller that blends science-fiction elements with humour and mystery. Built around the idea of a time loop, the story is expected to follow events that repeat within a specific timeframe, creating both suspense and comedic situations as the protagonist attempts to solve a larger mystery.
Production on the film has already begun after a recent pooja ceremony. Actress Gopika Ramesh, known for her performances in projects such as Suzhal and Sweetheart!, will play the female lead opposite Santhanam.
The supporting cast includes Redin Kingsley, Jenson Diwakar, Pradeep Antony, George Maryan, Fouzee, and TSR, among others. With a mix of comedic and character actors, the film appears to aim for an entertaining balance between humour and thriller elements.
On the technical front, the film features cinematography by Richard M Nathan and music composed by Nivas K Prasanna. The project is being produced by KJ Ganesh under the banner of Venus Infotainment along with Vijay K Celliah of K7 Studios.
Interestingly, this will not be Santhanam’s first venture into a science-fiction-leaning comedy space. The actor had previously experimented with similar concepts in films like Dikkiloona. With Santa 20, he once again appears set to combine humour with a genre-driven narrative.
If executed well, the film could add another intriguing entry to Tamil cinema’s growing list of time-loop stories while also giving Santhanam a fresh setting for his trademark comic style.
