RJ Balaji addresses Karuppu release delay with emotional video

The director apologized to fans after Karuppu faced unexpected release hurdles, leading to cancellation of morning and noon shows.

Director RJ Balaji became emotional while addressing fans after Karuppu faced last-minute release delays on its opening day. The much-anticipated Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha, encountered unexpected issues just hours before release, resulting in the cancellation of several morning and noon shows across Tamil Nadu.

Following the confusion among fans and theatre owners, RJ Balaji shared an emotional video message on social media. The filmmaker, who appeared visibly distressed, apologized to audiences for the inconvenience caused by the delay.

In the video, RJ Balaji said he never expected such hurdles to arise at the final moment. He expressed regret over the stress faced by fans who had traveled long distances and booked tickets for the early shows. The director stated that audiences come to theatres for entertainment and relief, and such complications should not have affected their experience.

Reports suggest that the release issues were linked to pending financial settlements from the production side. The sudden disruption led to confusion in online bookings and forced multiple theatres to cancel scheduled screenings despite strong advance bookings and special 9AM show permissions.

RJ Balaji also expressed confidence that the problems would be resolved soon. He assured fans that the team was working continuously to ensure the film reaches theatres without further setbacks. The filmmaker further praised Suriya’s dedication towards the project and said the actor had given immense effort for the film.

Even before release, Karuppu had generated massive expectations among audiences through its trailer, songs, and promotional events. The film recently remained in headlines after RJ Balaji clarified his controversial statement regarding social media audiences, explaining that he only wanted viewers to watch the film without preconceived opinions.

Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, Karuppu is positioned as a commercial action drama with emotional and folklore-inspired elements. Apart from Suriya and Trisha, the film also features Yogi Babu, Indrans, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam, and several others in key roles.

Despite the unexpected delay, fans continue to show strong support for the film online, hoping the issues will be resolved quickly and screenings will resume smoothly across theatres.
