The much-anticipated Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha, encountered unexpected issues just hours before release, resulting in the cancellation of several morning and noon shows across Tamil Nadu.
Following the confusion among fans and theatre owners, RJ Balaji shared an emotional video message on social media. The filmmaker, who appeared visibly distressed, apologized to audiences for the inconvenience caused by the delay.
In the video, RJ Balaji said he never expected such hurdles to arise at the final moment. He expressed regret over the stress faced by fans who had traveled long distances and booked tickets for the early shows. The director stated that audiences come to theatres for entertainment and relief, and such complications should not have affected their experience.
Reports suggest that the release issues were linked to pending financial settlements from the production side. The sudden disruption led to confusion in online bookings and forced multiple theatres to cancel scheduled screenings despite strong advance bookings and special 9AM show permissions.
