“Returning awards is not a good decision,” says Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan, who spoke at the press meet of Cheekati Rajyam yesterday, said returning national awards is not a good decision. To register their protest against government in the ongoing FTTI strike, some established film-makers returned their national awards. “I don’t think that returning awards is a good thing. I am not insulting those people who gave back theirs’, but I don’t think that for the sake of one government’s decision, you give back the award. I will not give back mine, because those were given by a different mindset,” said Kamal.

Suppose if I am angry with the whole film fraternity should I return all the money that I have earned? These awards are the same and I don’t think that it’s a good decision,” added Kamal. He is gearing up for the release of Thoongaa Vanam on November 10th. Cheekati Rajyam will hit screens on November 20th to avoid clashes with Akhil Akkineni’s launch film Akhil.
