Ravi Mohan Studios issues clarification on Bro Code title controversy

A source close to Ravi Mohan Studios reveals the team holds the registered copyright for the Bro Code title and declined the beverage brand’s request for film promotion citing ethical reasons.

The ongoing title dispute surrounding Bro Code has taken a new turn, with the sources from Ravi Mohan Studios giving a clarification following reports of a Delhi High Court injunction restricting the studio from using the title.

According to the sources, Ravi Mohan Studios has legally registered the copyright for the title “Bro Code” and its artistic work under the Entertainment category, reaffirming their ownership rights. The studio clarified that the issue arose after the beverage company behind the Bro Code liquor brand allegedly approached them to promote its product in the upcoming film. The production house claims it declined the request, stating that such an association would “set a wrong example.”

Following this refusal, the beverage company reportedly filed a case in the Delhi High Court against the film’s use of the title. However, Ravi Mohan Studios points out that the company has not challenged the existing Madras High Court verdict, which upholds the studio’s rights over the Bro Code title. The clarification further states that the Madras High Court’s interim order, restraining Indo Spirit Beverages from interfering with the film’s title has been extended until November 21st, 2025.

The studio also alleged that the beverage company’s recent legal move and media outreach are part of a publicity strategy linked to their plans to expand the brand’s market in Tamil Nadu. “This appears to be an attempt to create noise around their product launch in the state,” said a source.

With the next court hearing due in late November, all eyes are now on how the title dispute will be resolved and whether Bro Code will retain its name upon release.
