Rajinikanth’s Coolie joins 500 CRORE club, sets new milestone!
Rajinikanth becomes the only Tamil actor with three 500 crore grossers as Coolie joins 2.0 and Jailer in the elite global box office club.

Superstar Rajinikanth has once again proved his box office dominance as Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has stormed past the 500 crore mark globally. With this feat, Coolie becomes Rajinikanth’s third film to join the prestigious 500 crore club, following 2.0 and Jailer. The legendary actor, now in his mid-70s, continues to command an extraordinary fan base and unmatched crowd-pulling power.
The film has made a significant impact across markets, grossing approximately 145 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. It has also raked in 176 crore from overseas territories, while the rest of India (ROI) contributed around 180 crore, pushing the film’s total beyond 500 crore worldwide.
Rajinikanth now holds the unique distinction of being the only Tamil actor to have three films in the 500 crore club, underscoring his enduring appeal across generations and geographies.
As Coolie begins to wind down its theatrical run, it will continue screening in select cinemas this weekend. The box office landscape is set to get more competitive with multiple major releases lined up for September 5th, including Sivakarthikeyan’s anticipated Madharaasi, Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati, and Bad Girl, a production backed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Jailer 2, while director Lokesh Kanagaraj is preparing for his acting debut in a film helmed by Arun Matheswaran. Once their ongoing commitments are completed, the duo is expected to reunite for another massive project, which is also said to feature Kamal Haasan.
