The Lingaa audio launch was a starry affair and was attended by a spate of high-profile celebrities including Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha, Sudeep, Santhanam, KS Ravikumar, Vairamuthu, Rathnavelu and Rockline Venkatesh. Find below few highlights of the event!

  • The most surprising statement came from director Ameer who told that people in Tamil Nadu are waiting for Rajinikanth to become Chief Minister soon. Fans went wild and the atmosphere was euphoric
  • Even actor Vijaya Kumar indirectly hinted at Rajinikanth saying, “People will soon gift you a big award. Please accept it” and the wolf whistles from the audiences were back
  • Director Cheran said after Gandhi and Kamaraj, people see Rajinikanth as their next hope and wished him to do good for the society
  • Santhanam shared a hilarious remark which Rajinikanth told him once. Santhanam said, “I asked Rajini sir what is the differnce between Love and Desire. He told me it’s the same difference between a grandmother and Anushka Shetty”
  • When Vairumuthu spoke, he registered a sweeping statement. “அரசியல் உட்பட எந்த முடிவையும் ரஜினி மீது திணிக்க முடியாது. அதே சமயம் ரஜினி முடிவெடுத்து விட்டால் யாரும் தடுக்க முடியாது” told Vairamuthu on stage
  • But, the most satisfying news of the event came when producer Rockline Venkatesh confirmed the film’s release on December 12th, 2014 as a treat to Rajinikanth fans. But director Ravikumar’s still doubtful. He said there is lot of CG works pending and they are working round the clock to release the film in December
  • KS Ravikumar thanked Ameer for giving up the Lingaa title which was already registered by him. He also revealed that it was Rajinikanth who suggested the title for the film
  • Rajinikanth’s speech was the most spectacular phase of the event. He said “Politics is so deep, a danger. I’m just balking, but not scared of it” amidst a roaring applause. He also said he never forgets giving back and that’s why he chose Rockline Venkatesh as the producer for this film
  • Meanwhile, Shankar said Lingaa collections will break Endhiran’s mammoth record at the box-office
