Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Mammootty to share dais

The legends of Indian cinema are expected to come together for the inauguration of Dr. Rajkumar memorial on November 29th. Actor Rajkumar, who passed away in 2006 following cardiac arrest, is an iconic figure in Kannada cinema and was close friends with his fellow actors in the industry. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will personally invite Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, and Mammootty to attend the event in Kanteerava Studio situated in Bangalore where the memorial has been constructed. “Chief minister Siddaramaiah will be writing letters to these stars inviting them for the inauguration. Rajkumar personally knew all these actors, hence the government is inviting them besides actors from Kannada film industry,” said Karnataka Information minister Roshan Baig in a statement yesterday.

There are two phases in the Rajkumar memorial and the Karnataka government has completed the first phase at a cost of Rs. 7 crore in 2.5 acres of land. The first phase of the memorial has an open-air auditorium, mini-water body, landscaping, and a bust of Dr. Rajkumar. Also, Rajkumar’s complete repertoire will be exhibited for the public. It is to be noted that Rajkumar was buried in the premises of Kanteerava Studio and Kannada film buffs treat it as a pilgrim site since his death.
