Sukumar’s Pushpa is a long but mostly engaging fare that keeps the ball rolling thanks to Allu Arjun’s superb performance. The film has a lot of things going against it but what holds it together is the performance of the lead actor.

Allu Arjun plays Pushpa Raj, a coolie who goes up the ranks as a smashing ruffian lord, by beating all the rowdies around him. The film keeps the tempo at the right pace in the first half with interesting episodes and mass sequences that are well choreographed. However, the second half does not continue the same and is busy paying heed to Allu Arjun’s image and little otherwise. The final wing of the film is not that great either, with little to celebrate about.

Allu Arjun delivers a strong performance as Pushpa, depicting a very different body language. The actor pulls off a convincing act in a rough and tough role, which is a fantastic fit and never looks off the track.

The film also benefits from its supporting actors such as Sunil, Anasuya and others. Rashmika Mandanna is only a decent fit to the part, while Fahadh Faasil’s role adds fire to the final part of the film.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is highlighted by the songs which are peppy additions to the film’s narrative, but the background score is loud and disappointing. The film’s Tamil dubbing has been carried out superbly with Madhan Karky’s unique lines and Shekar’s convincing dubbing works for Allu Arjun’s character. The cinematography by Miroslav Kube Brozek is worth appreciation as well.

On the whole, Pushpa is a fine entertainer that works thanks to Allu Arjun’s presence and his entertaining performance.  Pushpa Movie Review by Only Kollywood
