“Puneeth Rajkumar and Genelia have shown interest in Thani Oruvan remake”

Director Mohan Raja has confirmed that Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar has shown interest in remaking Thani Oruvan in Kannada. “After Drishyam, Thani Oruvan is the first south film to get such nationwide attention. Puneet Rajkumar has evinced interest in remaking the film in Kannada, while actress Genelia has told me that she wants to do a Marathi version. A leading production house is in talks for the Bengali rights,” says Raja to TOI.

There are also reports that Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan are contending for the Telugu remake. Raja has also confirmed that the cast and crew of the Telugu remake is almost finalized and will be sealed in two days.
