Chennai-based PixelKraft Studios buys movie rights for Sujatha’s sci-fi novels

Chennai-based PixelKraft Studios has purchased movie rights for two of Sujatha’s greatest works, En Iniya Iyanthira and Meendum Juno. Sujatha is one of the most celebrated writers in Tamil with over 100 novels, 250 short stories, a number of stage-plays, poems to his credit. Looks like Kochadaiyaaan has indeed opened new avenues of film-making. This will be the first Tamil film to be made using virtual production similar to Sin City and 300, which were based on comic series.

Siddharth S Kumar, the director of PixelKraft says, “We will first make ‘En Iniya Iyanthira’ and then we will start working on ‘Meendum Juno’. It’s almost 20 years and both these books are still selling in the market and that’s why we chose these works to be made into a movie. We are reviving a tradition that already existed.” PixelKraft is collaborating with the UK-based Centroid Motion Capture, a firm which also worked on Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan. En Iniya Iyanthira is slated for release in 2016 and will be made with a budget of 40 crores.
