Parimala and Co Movie Review: A quirky dramedy that delivers laughs and suspense

Parimala and Co revolves around a middle-class family that lives a simple yet eventful life. Parimala and her family navigate everyday struggles, arguments, and joyful moments while trying to make ends meet. The film initially presents itself as a light-hearted family entertainer filled with humor and relatable situations.

However, the narrative takes an unexpected turn when a local troublemaker with political backing enters their lives. His actions create tension within the family and set the stage for a major incident. When the man is found murdered, several people emerge as suspects. What follows is a mystery that gradually unfolds through multiple twists and revelations.

Director Pandiraj moves away from his usual family-centric formula and experiments with a crime-comedy structure. The first half focuses on establishing the family dynamic and succeeds in creating an emotional connection with the audience. The interactions between the family members feel natural and often lead to genuinely funny moments.

The second half shifts gears into an investigation drama. The screenplay introduces new layers to the mystery and keeps viewers guessing about the identity of the culprit. While some dramatic portions do not have the same impact as the comedic stretches, the film remains engaging for most of its runtime.

Jayaram and Urvashi are the heart of the film. Their chemistry feels effortless, and their scenes together generate many of the film’s most enjoyable moments.
