“Papanasam is not as dark as Mahanadhi,” says Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan, who is awaiting the release of three back to back films this year, says Papanasam is a parable of our times. His Uttama Villain directed by Ramesh Aravind is likely to release in April and the team has scheduled the audio launch on March 1st. Meanwhile, the makers of Papanasam are planning to release the film in May, informs a trade source.

“How much provocation does it take for that veneer of civility to peel off from all of us? This film shows what it takes for a simple family man to break the law when pushed into a corner. Papanasam is not as dark as Mahanadhi and it is not a hopeful film either,” adds Kamal. Directed by Jeethu Joseph who helmed the original version Drishyam, Papanasam features Kamal Haasan and Gautami in the lead. It has music by Ghibran.
