Orange Mittai Movie Preview

Vijay Sethupathi joins the list of actors – Arya, Dhanush, Vishal to name a few – to don the mantle of a producer with Orange Mittai, a script which was narrated to him by the internationally-acclaimed film-maker Biju Viswanath even before Pizza happened.

Three things to look forward to

Vijay Sethupathi, who has excelled with various make-overs and proved his mettle as an actor, plays the role of a 55-year old in the film. And if his dancing skills in the trailer are anything to go by, we are in for an absolute laugh riot. And, Vijay Sethupathi has also written the dialogues for the film and shares credit as a ‘co-writer’ along with Biju Viswanath. “Biju sir told me to approach dialogue writing nonchalantly. He asked me to come to his office daily and discuss about the film casually for two hours. That’s how it happened,” says Vijay Sethupathi who has also written lyrics and turned singer for two songs.

What is Orange Mittai all about?

Vijay Sethupathi

The film is about the journey of a 55-year-old man, Kailasam, (Vijay Sethupathi) in an ambulance. There are two other main characters in the film — a driver (Arumugam Bala) and a paramedic (RJ Ramesh Thilak) and the story revolves around the three of us

Biju Viswanath

I dont believe in narrating the story. In a nutshell it is about a father son relationship. The story opens on the first death anniversary of the protoganist – Sathya’s father. Sathya had a very bad relationship with his father and now he is guilty that he didn’t take care of his father when he was alive. He gets a call from an old man Kailasam and goes to meet him

Vijay Sethupathi’s career best performance

According to director Biju Viswanath, Vijay Sethupathi’s performance in the film will be very matured and seasoned. “You will see a Vijay Sethupathi who is entirely different from what you see in other films.

What is the theme of the film?

‘The journey is the destination’. The present is the moment because you have nowhere to reach, there is no destination. It is the process that makes life. We have tried to approach it in a lightly funnier way rather than being melodramatic,” says Biju Viswanath

The film is all set for a worldwide release tomorrow along with Vikram Prabhu’s Idhu Enna Maayam, which marks the debut of Malayalam actress Keerthy Suresh and Jayam Ravi’s Sakalakala Vallavan which also stars Anjali and Trisha. Orange Mittai is releasing in over 200 screens in Tamil Nadu despite firm competition from others. Run time of the movie is a sleek 101 mins.
