Dhanush’s OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram – The Blood Wood could reportedly be heading for a new theatrical release window, with November 27 or December 2 being discussed as possible dates.
The film was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on October 16, just a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. However, the impending clash has created considerable uncertainty around OM, which has yet to begin its promotional campaign despite its earlier release plan. Recent reports suggest that the film could now be postponed, with its OTT partner having reportedly given the green signal for a later theatrical release.
According to the latest report, OM could arrive on either November 27 or December 2. Such a move would place the film around three weeks after Diwali, when big-budget releases such as Ramayana and Suriya’s Scene are scheduled to be in theatres. The December option would also leave roughly two weeks before Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, potentially giving OM a separate window from the major releases surrounding it.
The possible postponement also comes at a time when Jailer 2 has stepped up its promotional campaign considerably. Instead of limiting the promotions to conventional character posters, Sun Pictures has been unveiling dedicated character-introduction videos for the major additions to Nelson Dilipkumar’s sequel.
The promotional rollout began with Suraj Venjaramoodu being introduced as Dileep, followed by SJ Suryah as Bodhi Kalpak. Vidya Balan was subsequently unveiled as Kantha, with each reveal adding another layer of intrigue around the film’s expanded cast.
With Jailer 2 now officially locked for October 15, its promotional campaign is already gathering momentum. Meanwhile, OM is reportedly looking at a new release window, which would move Dhanush’s film away from the immediate October clash.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, OM stars Dhanush, Mammootty, Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi and Indrans in prominent roles. Dhanush is producing the film under Wunderbar Films in association with R Take Studios. For now, November 27 and December 2 remain reported possibilities, with an official announcement on the final theatrical release date still awaited.
