The OM Title Launch Event offered fans an exciting glimpse into Dhanush’s upcoming action epic, with the film’s team sharing several key updates about the highly anticipated project.
Speaking at the event, co-producer Sreyas described OM as a film that will bring back the vintage Dhanush that fans have long admired. He also revealed that the project marks the 22nd production venture for Wunderbar Films and is the most expensive film in Dhanush’s career to date.
“We have come a long way with Wunderbar. OM will be a vintage Dhanush film and exactly what fans expect from him. The film has action, mass moments and everything needed for a grand theatrical experience,” said Sreyas. He also confirmed that the film is scheduled to release on October 16, 2026.
Director Rajkumar Periasamy shared several interesting details about the film during the OM Title Launch Event. According to him, around 60 to 65 percent of the shoot has already been completed, and the project is progressing smoothly.
The director also highlighted the film’s impressive ensemble cast. Alongside Dhanush, the film features Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and veteran Malayalam actor Indrans in pivotal roles.
“OM is a very special film for all of us. The cast is incredible, and the film is shaping up extremely well,” said Rajkumar Periasamy.
The filmmaker also revealed details about the technical team behind the project. Cinematographer Ezhil is handling the visuals, while editor Kalaiselvan, who recently worked on Karuppu, is in charge of the film’s editing. Interestingly, he was also responsible for cutting the newly released title teaser.
Rajkumar Periasamy further explained the purpose of the title teaser. He stated that the video was designed only to introduce Dhanush’s character and establish the tone, mood and visual style of the film.
“The title teaser is just an introduction to Dhanush sir’s character and the overall feel of the film. We will be releasing individual character teasers in the coming months, followed by the main teaser and trailer,” he said.
The director was particularly appreciative of Dhanush’s work in the film and hinted that audiences can expect a standout performance from the actor.
One of the biggest revelations at the OM Title Launch Event was that the story is a fictional narrative inspired by real-life incidents. Rajkumar Periasamy also confirmed that Mammootty plays a character named Karthikeyan, a role expected to be crucial to the film’s storyline.
The makers additionally announced that a dedicated teaser introducing Mammootty’s character will be unveiled soon, further building anticipation around the project.
With a star-studded cast, a large-scale production and a chapter-based narrative beginning with OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood, the film has already emerged as one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil releases of 2026. The team will now focus on completing the remaining portions of the shoot before gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
