Nooru Saami wins praise from Vettrimaaran, AR Murugadoss and Pa Ranjith ahead of June 19 release

Acclaimed filmmakers Vettrimaaran, AR Murugadoss and Pa Ranjith heap praise on Sasi’s Nooru Saami after a special screening.

Director Sasi’s upcoming drama Nooru Saami has garnered strong appreciation from several leading filmmakers following a special screening held ahead of its theatrical release on June 19.

Director Vettrimaaran lauded the film for its fresh approach and said it does not resemble conventional cinema. He praised the performances of the entire cast and highlighted the film’s music and cinematography. Vettrimaaran also expressed his long-standing admiration for Sasi’s dedication to filmmaking, noting that the director consistently chooses titles that perfectly reflect the essence of his stories.

Filmmaker AR Murugadoss revealed that the film is based on a true story from his native place and admitted that he was moved by the way Sasi handled such a challenging subject. He particularly appreciated the climax and commended the performances of Swasika and Radhika Sarathkumar. Murugadoss also recalled the support Sasi had extended during difficult phases of his career, especially around the time of Mudhalvan. Comparing Sasi’s work to socially relevant cinema, he said Nooru Saami explores the gender dynamics that exist within families and society, making it a deeply emotional experience.

Pa Ranjith was equally impressed by the film and described it as a work that connected with him on a personal level. He praised the psychological depth of the narrative, especially its exploration of human attachment to objects. Ranjith jokingly remarked that Sasi may soon be known as “Nooru Saami Sasi” because of the impact the film is likely to create.

Speaking about the project, Sasi reserved special praise for Vijay Antony, who appears in the latter half of the film. The director revealed that Vijay Antony appreciated the film after watching it and chose to discuss it in detail only after its completion. Sasi also reflected on one of the film’s central themes, stating that society often glorifies mothers as goddesses, while true understanding comes from seeing them as human beings.

Actress Swasika expressed gratitude to Sasi for entrusting her with the film and urged audiences to support the project. Vijay Antony, meanwhile, thanked the director for casting him in a romantic role and described Nooru Saami as an important film that society needs today. He encouraged audiences to watch the film with their families.

The recently released trailer offers a glimpse into the film’s emotionally charged narrative. It follows a single mother, played by Swasika, who faces constant judgement from society while raising her son. The trailer highlights themes of motherhood, societal prejudice, emotional trauma and human relationships, while hinting at a powerful social message. With its strong performances, thought-provoking subject matter and endorsements from some of Tamil cinema’s most respected filmmakers, Nooru Saami heads into its June 19 release carrying significant expectations.
