Nayanthara has officially joined the cast of Dharman, Rajinikanth’s upcoming film directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The announcement brings the popular pair together again, five years after their last collaboration in Annaatthe (2021).
The production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, announced Nayanthara’s inclusion on Sunday (Oct 25th). The team welcomed the actor with a social media post that read, “The aura is double… Welcoming the one and only Nayanthara to Dharman.”
Director Ashwath Marimuthu also welcomed the actress to the team. The announcement has added to the anticipation surrounding the film, which is produced by Kamal Haasan and Mahendran under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner.
The upcoming film marks another collaboration between Nayanthara and Rajinikanth. The actors have previously shared screen space in Chandramukhi (2005), Kuselan (2008), Darbar (2020) and Annaatthe (2021). Nayanthara also made a cameo appearance in the song “Ballelakka” from Sivaji (2007).
With Dharman, the duo reunites after five years. However, the makers have not yet revealed details about Nayanthara’s character or her role in the story.
Dharman was announced in June 2026, with Ashwath Marimuthu confirmed as the director. The film reportedly features Rajinikanth as a doctor in an action drama. While the plot remains under wraps, the project has already completed three shooting schedules.
The film’s ensemble cast includes Ram Pothineni, Simran, Raashii Khanna and Yogi Babu, alongside Nayanthara. Anirudh is composing the music for Dharman. The technical team includes cinematographer Niketh Bommi, editor Pradeep E Ragav, production designer Karthik Rajkumar and stunt choreographers Anbariv.
The team is yet to announce an official theatrical release date. Reports have indicated a possible Pongal 2027 release, but the makers have not confirmed the timeline. Meanwhile, Nayanthara is also set to return as the lead in Mookuthi Amman 2, which is scheduled to release on November 6, 2026, during the Diwali season.
