Tamil Nadu Minister for Film Technology and the Cinematograph Act, Rajmohan, has shared a fresh update regarding the release of Jana Nayagan, starring Chief Minister Vijay.
According to Rajmohan, the film can only be released after obtaining the necessary censor certification. He reportedly stated that the related procedures are currently underway and emphasized that no film can bypass legal processes for political or other reasons. The minister further added that all required approvals must be obtained properly before the film can arrive in theatres.
Speculations about the release date of Jana Nayagan have been circulating widely over the past few weeks. Reports recently suggested that the film could hit theatres around Vijay’s birthday in June after online ticketing platforms briefly hinted at a possible release window. However, the makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding the release date.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan marks Vijay’s final film before his complete transition into active politics. The political action drama features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain in important roles.
The film was initially planned for a Pongal 2026 release but faced delays after issues related to censor certification surfaced earlier this year. Adding to the complications, the film was leaked online in April, which reportedly affected the project significantly.
Despite the hurdles, anticipation for Jana Nayagan continues to remain extremely high among fans, especially as the film is expected to serve as Vijay’s cinematic farewell before focusing entirely on his political journey.
