Mari Selvaraj moves to Japan for pre-production work of Dhanush’s D56!

Dhanush’s upcoming film with director Mari Selvaraj is still over six months away from going on floors, but the pre-production work has already begun in full swing. Mari Selvaraj has flown to Japan to kickstart the groundwork for the film, which is expected to be a period action drama with a unique setting and vision.
Interestingly, this project was first signed during the making of Karnan, marking another collaboration between Dhanush and Mari. Initially, the film was planned to be produced by Wunderbar Films in association with Zee Studios. However, the production responsibilities have now shifted to Vels Film International, which will be bankrolling the project entirely.
While fans will have to wait until 2026 for the shoot to begin, the buzz around this collaboration is already building, given the success of Karnan and the strong creative pairing of Dhanush and Mari.
Meanwhile, Mari Selvaraj is also gearing up for the release of Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram, which is slated for a Diwali release.
