The audio and trailer launch event of Madharaasi turned out to be a vibrant celebration, packed with emotion, excitement, and immense pride from the entire cast and crew. The much anticipated film, directed by AR Murugadoss and starring Sivakarthikeyan, is set to hit screens on September 5th with good expectations and buzz all around with the trailer is already making waves in town. From producers to lyricists, technicians to stars, everyone present at the event had powerful and heartfelt words to share.
Producer RB Chaudhary expressed his admiration for the trailer, calling it “Brammaandam” (grand), stating that while most trailers are best experienced on the big screen, this one hits just as hard even on a mobile phone. He added that he is eagerly waiting for the film’s release.
Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu followed with high praise for Sivakarthikeyan, saying that from kids to adults to seniors, SK is a favourite for all. While the actor has done action films before, Madharaasi marks a new peak in his action career. Thanu reminisced that Thuppakki, which he produced, remains one of his biggest hits (drawing a loud roar from the audience) and confidently declared that the climax of Madharaasi will be “earth-shattering,” packed with blood-boiling action scenes, showing Sivakarthikeyan in a whole new style.
Lyricist Super Subbu, known for penning mass hits like “Hukum,” shared his joy at writing a kuthu number for Madharaasi, and was thrilled to see big names like Sivakarthikeyan and Murugadoss having fun alongside him in the lyric video. Lyricist Vivek spoke about how AR Murugadoss’s impactful dialogues have left a lasting impression on this generation, citing lines from Kaththi and Sarkar that continue to echo in people’s minds.
DOP Sudeep spoke highly about the diverse cast and crew of the film, and how he imagined Anirudh’s music while shooting many of the scenes. He shared how thrilling it was to work on a film that blends top-tier action with technical finesse, and that he even went to extreme lengths like placing the camera at great heights to capture standout action sequences, one of which earned massive applause on set.
Stunt master Kevin highlighted the much talked about climax fight between Sivakarthikeyan and Vidyut Jammwal, calling it one of the most brutal and exciting sequences in recent times. He praised the director’s clarity and attention to detail in choreographing the fights, which he believes will be among the film’s biggest highlights.
Actor Biju Menon, returning to Tamil cinema after 15 years, was full of gratitude for being part of a Murugadoss project. A fan of both Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh, he spoke about the strength of his character and the growing fanbase of Tamil cinema in Kerala, pointing to the huge crowd at the event as evidence.
Actress Rukmini described Madharaasi as a film very close to her heart. She thanked Murugadoss for the beautifully written character of Malathy, and spoke warmly of her admiration for Sivakarthikeyan, calling herself a “certified fangirl” whose respect for the actor has only deepened through this project.
Producer Tirupati Prasad remarked that Thalapathy Vijay himself had metaphorically handed the baton of Thuppakki to Sivakarthikeyan. He boldly claimed that once Madharaasi hits screens on September 5th, fans will understand why, and will see the film as a full-on treat for SK fans.
Music composer Anirudh shared an emotional tribute to both Murugadoss and Sivakarthikeyan. Recalling how he was just 20 when he was offered Kaththi, he credited the director for giving him the platform to shine. About Sivakarthikeyan, whom he referred to as “my baby,” Anirudh said they began their journey together with 3 and found blockbuster success with Ethir Neechal. Now, with Madharaasi being their 8th film together, he praised SK’s pure heart, calling him a rare gem who continues to rise while staying grounded. As he recited the final line from the trailer, “Idhu en ooru sir, naa vandhu nippen nu… idhu en SK da,” a tearful Sivakarthikeyan was visibly moved.
Director AR Murugadoss, in his powerful and heartfelt speech, called Sivakarthikeyan a hard worker who has grown rapidly by winning over the hearts of families and children. He revealed that the story of Madharaasi was once told to Shah Rukh Khan, but he’s glad SK is the one doing it now. Murugadoss heaped praise on Anirudh, calling him the film’s second hero, stating that his music elevates not just scenes, but the spirit of the entire film. He also talked about Vidyut Jammwal, who returned to work with him despite being a lead star now, and Biju Menon, whose voice alone elevated his character. Sudeep, the cinematographer, was praised for going to extreme lengths, even working through injuries – to capture breathtaking visuals. Murugadoss emphasized that Madharaasi is not a political film, but a film that delivers a powerful warning relevant to our society. He also shared his admiration for Sivakarthikeyan’s timing and humor, likening it to legends like Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Vijay.
Finally, Sivakarthikeyan delivered an emotional and witty speech. He recalled how, 14 years ago, he was almost the anchor for the 7am Arivu event, but was replaced at the last minute. Today, to share the stage with AR Murugadoss for his own film is a full-circle moment for him. He showered praise on Murugadoss, saying that he never treated him like a junior, but always as the film’s hero. SK shared his personal connection to the director, revealing that his father loved Ramana, and that Murugadoss shares his father’s name.
Speaking about the film, SK said Madharaasi is not just a high-octane action entertainer but also a poignant love story. He appreciated Rukmini’s depth and passion, calling her a padikkara ponnu (studious girl), while also making the audience laugh with anecdotes about Anirudh’s sleeping habits and marriage jokes. He addressed comparisons to Thalapathy Vijay humbly, saying he remains a younger brother to the star, and that the Thuppakki scene was a blessing, not a passing of the torch.
Sivakarthikeyan, in a grounded and heartfelt moment at the Madharaasi audio and trailer launch, opened up about fan culture, criticism, and staying rooted in the journey.
He said, “We can’t pull other actors’ audiences to our side just like that. Look at Vijay sir – he entered politics today, everyone around him will stay by his side. Even if some move away, he’ll still stand strong. Ajith sir said he doesn’t want a fan club, yet his fans are still rock solid behind him. Kamal sir has seen victories and setbacks, but his fans stay for his cinema. Rajini sir has been in the industry for 50 years – his following is unmatched.”
He continued, “Like that, after them we have Suriya, Vikram, Dhanush, Simbu – all of them have loyal fans. I too have been slowly building that kind of following. But fanbase la oru real thing iruku, fans are very loyal. You can’t easily make someone else’s fans shift to you. It doesn’t work that way.”
Talking about facing criticism, Sivakarthikeyan made a powerful point. “I’ve seen so much criticism in my life. Even someone like Sachin, after scoring so many centuries, or Dhoni, after winning 5 trophies for CSK, gets questioned and criticised. Who are we then? We’re just growing now. So when criticism comes, don’t take it to heart. Take the good from it and move on.”
He also addressed how even simple gestures get misunderstood. “Sometimes, I call my team and tell them I liked a movie or appreciate something – and people ask, ‘Who does he think he is?’ But honestly, if I’m doing something good, why should I overthink it?”
The Madharaasi audio and trailer launch was not just a promotional event – it was a celebration of talent, humility, and shared dreams. As the film gears up for its release on September 5th, expectations are high. And if the passion, camaraderie, and confidence seen at the event are anything to go by, Madharaasi is all set to be a massive success.
