It all started with a earth shattering teaser. And now, we have the magnum-opus, the 125-crore Kochadaiiyaan ready to hit the screens near you this Friday. It’s been two dedicated years of hard work for Soundarya Ashwin, the director of the film and her team. The film has a star-studded cast including Deepika Padukone, Sarath Kumar, Nassar, Shobana, Jackie Shroff, Aadhi and Rukumani Vijayakumar. AR Rahman has scored music for the film and the songs have been topping the charts on all radio stations ever since. The film has dialogues by KS Ravikumar, who has also penned the story. It is produced by Mediaone Global Entertainment and distributed by Eros International.

  • What is motion capture technology? It is nothing but capturing the live action of actors and then recreating the performance to animate digital models of the actors in 2D or 3D. Kochadaiiyaan is India’s first photo-realistic 3D film with the motion capture technology. James Cameron’s Avatar utilized performance capture technology. Even, the Hulk character in Avengers was captured using motion capture technology instead of a bland CGI technique
  • Numbers: 2 years in the making, over 200 odd technicians and a 125-crore budget – Directed by a 29 year old debutante director. More than 100 screens for the Tamil version in USA make this the biggest South Indian release ever
  • History: First film in Indian cinema to be released in 6 languages namely Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi and Marathi simultaneously. The film also brings together the classic Thalapathi pair Shobana and Rajinikanth on screen. Late veteran comedian Nagesh has been brought alive on screen with the motion capture technology.
