Karuppu Pulsar Movie Review: A supernatural idea with measured impact

Karuppu Pulsar centers on a mysterious black motorcycle that slowly alters the life of its owner. What begins as a harmless desire turns unsettling when the bike appears to carry a disturbing past. As strange incidents begin to occur, the protagonist is drawn into a trail of hidden secrets linked to the vehicle.

Dinesh, a water purifier salesman in Chennai, places a matrimonial advertisement and meets Reshma. Their friendship soon turns into romance. In an attempt to impress her, Dinesh lies about owning a black Pulsar motorcycle, even though he only has a normal one. When Reshma expresses her wish to ride on a black Pulsar, Dinesh decides to turn his lie into reality. Along with his prankster friend Rahul, he searches for a used black Pulsar and eventually buys one. Soon after, unexplained and supernatural events begin to disrupt his life. What these incidents are, and why they occur, form the rest of the story.

The film introduces its central idea with promise, but the narration often feels uneven. While the setup is engaging, the screenplay struggles to maintain momentum. Several scenes stretch longer than needed, weakening the overall impact. The mix of romance, comedy, and supernatural elements lacks a smooth transition, causing the film to feel scattered at times.

Dinesh delivers a sincere performance in two contrasting roles, portraying both a rural youth from Madurai and a modern young man in Chennai. He handles the emotional shifts convincingly, even when the writing does not fully support the character. Reshma and Madhunika perform their roles with ease but remain underwritten. Mansoor Ali Khan and prankster Rahul add light-hearted moments, though the comedy does not always blend well with the film’s darker themes.

Director Murali Krish attempts to blend romance, mystery, comedy, and a supernatural angle into a commercial format. While the intention is clear, the execution falls short. The contrast between Madurai and Chennai settings is visually interesting but not fully explored in the narrative. A tighter screenplay could have elevated the film’s core idea.

Karuppu Pulsar is anchored by an intriguing premise but is weighed down by narrative limitations and sluggish pacing. While the performances and technical efforts add some value, the film stops short of delivering a truly impactful experience. In the end, this supernatural thriller emerges as a moderate outing, best suited for viewers curious about its central idea.
