Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar locks early OTT release date on Prime Video

Blending commercial action with fantasy beats, Vaa Vaathiyaar makes a quick digital debut on Prime Video on January 28th.

The action-fantasy laced Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi and Krithi Shetty, has secured its OTT release date, marking a swift transition from theaters to digital platforms. After premiering in cinemas on January 14, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting January 28, 2026, just two weeks after its theatrical debut – an unusually early window for a major release.

Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, Vaa Vaathiyaar follows the story of Ramu (played by Karthi), a police officer raised by his grandfather, a die-hard fan of legendary actor-politician MG Ramachandran (MGR), who instills in him a deep belief in his connection to the icon. As Ramu grows up, unexpected events test his strength, forcing him to shoulder new responsibilities and confront personal challenges.

Produced by Studio Green under K.E. Gnanavel Raja, the film features a strong supporting cast including Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anandaraj, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, and others. The project has music by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by George C. Williams and editing by Vetre Krishnan.

Despite facing financial and legal delays prior to its theatrical release, Vaa Vaathiyaar managed to reach audiences during the Pongal festival, and now prepares for its digital debut across multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
