Director Tamizh confirms major shooting progress on Karthi’s period drama Marshal, set in 1965, with a Diwali release planned alongside a strong ensemble cast and technical crew.

Director Tamizh has offered a fresh update on actor Karthi’s upcoming film Marshal, revealing key progress on the project during a recent award event appearance. The filmmaker confirmed that the production has successfully completed two shooting schedules, spanning nearly 48 days of filming so far.
According to the director, the team is currently working toward a Diwali theatrical release, positioning the film as a festive-season entertainer. Marshal is set against the backdrop of 1965, making it a period drama that aims to blend historical texture with mainstream storytelling.
The film features Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, marking her first on-screen collaboration with Karthi. The pairing has already generated curiosity among audiences, with expectations high for their fresh dynamic within the narrative.
Adding further strength to the project is a notable ensemble cast that includes Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Lal, John Kokken, and Easwari Rao. The presence of several seasoned performers is expected to enhance the film’s scale and dramatic depth, contributing to what is being described as one of the most ambitious ventures in Karthi’s career.
On the technical front, Marshal brings together an experienced creative team. Music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, while cinematography is handled by Sathyan Sooriyan. Editing responsibilities are taken up by Philomin Raj, with Arun Venjaramoodu leading the production design, promising a visually authentic recreation of the 1960s setting.
Meanwhile, Karthi is also gearing up for the release of his upcoming spy thriller Sardar 2, directed by PS Mithran, which is expected to arrive in theatres during the summer window, likely between May and June. With two major releases lined up, the actor appears set for a busy year ahead at the box office.
