The shooting for Karthi’s anticipated film Marshal has officially commenced, with the first schedule currently underway in Rameswaram. The schedule, which began yesterday (Sep 17th), will span 30 days and cover key portions of the film. Directed by Tamizh (Taanakkaran fame), is said to be a gangster drama set against the gritty backdrop of the 1960s and 70s. The film is being mounted on a large scale and planned as a two part saga, promising an intense, period-specific narrative packed with action and drama.
Joining Karthi in the shoot is actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, who plays a significant role in the film. Both actors are actively participating in the Rameswaram schedule, which marks the beginning of this ambitious cinematic journey.
With its retro setting, stylized storytelling, and expansive production scale, Marshal is shaping up to be one of Karthi’s most intriguing projects to date. The 60-70s backdrop is expected to lend the film a distinct visual and thematic identity, differentiating it from other contemporary gangster films. Aadhi, who was last seen in Sabdham is also speculated to play an important role in Marshal.
Marshal features a stellar supporting cast, including seasoned actors Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Lal, John Kokken, Murali Sharma, and Easwari Rao, adding significant depth and gravitas to this large-scale production. Sai Abhyankkar will compose the music, aiming to elevate the film’s periodic setting with a rich, era-appropriate soundtrack.
