Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has officially announced the title of his much-anticipated 10th directorial venture as Dorothy. Headlined by Keerthy Suresh alongside Sananth and Rishikanth, the film is set to achieve a significant milestone by making its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) before arriving in theatres worldwide on September 25th.
The announcement was made through a striking title poster, which also confirmed that Dorothy has been selected for the prestigious Centrepiece section at TIFF. The international premiere marks another notable achievement for Tamil cinema, with the film expected to be showcased before a global audience ahead of its theatrical release.
Sharing the announcement, Karthik Subbaraj described Dorothy as a project that has been close to his heart for several years. He revealed that the film explores themes such as identity, caste, masculinity and compassion through grounded, deeply human characters rather than larger-than-life spectacle.
The film marks the first collaboration between Karthik Subbaraj and Ilaiyaraaja, with the legendary composer scoring the music. The technical crew also includes cinematographer Thirunavukkarasu and editor Shafique Mohamed Ali, promising a strong creative team behind the project.
Dorothy is jointly produced by Dhammam Films, Sikhya Entertainment and Jio Studios. Karthik Subbaraj is producing the film under his home banner alongside Academy Award-winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor, Achin Jain and Jyoti Deshpande.
With its prestigious TIFF selection, acclaimed cast and the awaited collaboration between Karthik Subbaraj and Ilaiyaraaja, Dorothy has already emerged as one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year ahead of its theatrical release on September 25th.
