Karthi officially teams up with Mad director Kalyan Shankar for Karthi 30

Actor Karthi has officially joined hands with director Kalyan Shankar for his landmark 30th film. The announcement was made on Monday by production house Sithara Entertainments, which also shared pictures from the film’s pooja ceremony held on the occasion of Karthi’s birthday.

The yet-untitled project marks the first collaboration between Karthi and Kalyan Shankar, who is best known for directing the Telugu entertainers Mad and Mad Square. The makers confirmed that the shoot is already underway and progressing at a brisk pace, while the title and first-look poster are expected to be unveiled soon.

Actress Meenakshi Chaudhary has been roped in as the female lead, marking her first on-screen pairing with Karthi. The actress was last seen in the Telugu film Anaganaga Oka Raju, while her previous Tamil outing was Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time (GOAT).

The project has already generated strong buzz among fans, especially with Karthi teaming up with a filmmaker known for youthful entertainers and comedy-driven storytelling. Reports suggest that the film is being mounted as a full-fledged commercial entertainer under the Sithara Entertainments banner.

On the career front, Kalyan Shankar made his directorial debut with the 2023 Telugu film Mad before following it up with the successful sequel Mad Square in 2025. Apart from directing, he has also contributed as a writer to projects like Tillu Square and Hero.

Meanwhile, Karthi was last seen in Vaa Vaathiyaar and is currently working on Marshal, directed by Tamizh of Taanakaran fame.
