Peppy and pleasing!

Kanchana 2 is a mixed bag of four composers to form a single album. Out of all the songs, it is the two tracks from Leon James that make this album worth listening.

Cast: Lawrence, Taapsee

Music: Leon James, Thaman, Sathya and Ashwamithra

Direction: Lawrence

Label: Thenandal Audio

Sandi Muni: Singer – Haricharan

A fast-paced track to start off things in the album. With heavy beats, Leon James uses classical instruments for the interludes to make it sound good. Haricharan’s vocals add an enchanting feel to the song.

Vaaya Veera: Singer – Shaktisree Gopalan

What was an independent track has now found its place in a film. Shaktisree’s earthy rendition is the highlight of this track, which does come along with a pleasing, lovely background instrumentation. Easily our PICK of the album.

Sillaata Pillaata: Singer – Jagadeesh Kumar

Every instalment in the Muni series has had a ‘thara-local’ kuthu track to which Lawrence shakes his leg. In Kanchana 2, it is this number which will slot that spot. SillaataPillaata will surely go on to become an addictive one for lovers of this genre.

Motta Payya: Singer – Chitra, Sooraj Santhosh

Motta Payya is Thaman’s only track in the album, and it is a good one at that. Albeit being belted on a simple beat, the vocals of Chitra and Sooraj Santhosh make this a decent listen.

Moda Moda: Singer- Master Sriram Roshan

It’s always nice to see some variety in a kuthu song, and here we have a little kid crooning one. While Sriram Roshan does a fab job on the vocals, the unexciting orchestration dulls this track by a bit.
