Kamal Haasan reveals massive certification programme for 35 film unions

Speaking at the Global Skills Summit held in New Delhi yesterday, Kamal Haasan, chairman of Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), revealed plans to conduct a three day workshop for 35 film unions in the month of November.

“We have decided to organize a 3 day workshop bringing together 35 film unions for conducting Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)  for about 10,000 workforce currently working in the Film Industry . The three day workshop would involve training which would be conducted by national and international film dignitaries, technicians, specialists in 16 trades/job roles and certificates given for the prior skills,” says an official press note.

The film union has unanimously announced a 3 day work holiday during second week of November making it a “workers driven” initiative. “The federation of film employees and MESC are coming up with certification programme for those who are already at work in the field and also new ones. We will train assistant directors, camera assistants, music assistants, writers, lightman, art directors, audio, make-up, costumes and dubbing artistes,” Kamal Haasan said.
