Kamal Haasan meets Rajinikanth after becoming Rajya Sabha MP; shares warm moment

Veteran actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan recently paid a special visit to his long-time friend and fellow cinema icon Rajinikanth, marking a significant moment both politically and personally. The occasion? Kamal Haasan is set to enter the Rajya Sabha as a Member of Parliament and will take the oath of office and assume his duties in Parliament on July 25th.

The two stars, who have shared decades of camaraderie, were seen embracing warmly in photos shared by Kamal on his official X handle. One image shows him proudly displaying his Rajya Sabha MP order to Rajinikanth. Captioning the post in Tamil, Kamal wrote, “I shared the news about my new journey with my friend, Rajinikanth. I was delighted.

KH’s unopposed election to the Upper House came through a pre-election pact between MNM and the DMK during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Alongside him, three DMK candidates and two from AIADMK were also elected.

The heartfelt meeting between the two stalwarts resonated with fans, symbolizing not just a political update but the enduring bond between two of Tamil cinema’s greatest figures.

In terms of upcoming projects, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, and is now working on a film with the action choreographer duo Anbariv. He’s also awaiting the release of Indian 3, helmed by director Shankar. Rajinikanth, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which is set to hit theatres on August 14th. He is currently shooting for Jailer 2, under the direction of Nelson.
