Jiiva announces ambitious mythological film inspired by Lord Murugan

Jiiva reveals plans for an ambitious mythological film inspired by Lord Murugan, calling it a culturally significant project currently in early development stages.

Actor Jiiva has confirmed that he has embarked on developing a large-scale cinematic project inspired by the life and legends of Lord Murugan, one of Tamil culture’s most revered deities. The announcement came as Jiiva expressed gratitude to fans for the overwhelming response to his recent release Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which continues to enjoy packed theaters across the state.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the iconic Thiruchendur Murugan Temple to seek divine blessings for the venture, Jiiva shared his long-standing desire to bring Lord Murugan’s stories to the screen. “I have always wanted to do a film based on Lord Murugan’s narratives and his pride,” the actor said, emphasizing the cultural importance of the deity in Tamil tradition. “This project is in its early stages, and we will officially announce more details soon. I believe it will be a landmark film in Tamil cinema’s history.”

According to Jiiva, the team has begun extensive research into various episodes from Murugan’s life, and efforts are underway to crystallize the screenplay and creative direction. He noted that while the concept is taking shape, the final story and release plan will be revealed at the “right moment.”

The project marks a bold step for Jiiva, who is currently celebrating another milestone with his latest film. Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, directed by Nithish Sahadev, has been lauded for its engaging narrative and strong performances, reinforcing Jiiva’s standing in the industry.

In addition to his mythological venture, Jiiva is set to collaborate once again with director M Rajesh for Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan, reuniting with the filmmaker after their hit Siva Manasula Sakthi in 2009. The film is scheduled for a Summer 2026 release, with SMS set to be re-released ahead of it as part of the promotional campaign for JIO.

Following the resounding success of TTT, which has reportedly grossed around 15 crore in Tamil Nadu within just four days, Jiiva appears poised for a promising 2026, with JIO and a prestigious mythological project lined up next.
