Jigina Movie Preview

With infinite number of real-life incidents continue to happen around the abusive use of false identities on social media, here is a small Tamil film called Jigina which is centered on misuse of Facebook as its main theme.

The film, directed by Nandha Periyasamy of Oru Kallooriyin Kadhai fame, stars Vijay Vasanth and Sanyathara in the lead roles. The makers have superbly cashed in on the film’s premise and have churned out some hilarious, attention-getting posters featuring some popular dialogues from cult films like Alaipayuthey, Jigarthanda, Mounam Pesiyadhey to lure moviegoers.

In this commercial world any one with a darker skin is made to feel small and inferior in comparison to the fair skinned. There were many instances in this world where the dark skinned prevail over the fair skinned in terms of success and human values. In Jigina, I play a character very similar to the one you find across the state paling in comparison

Director Ravi Nandha Periyasami and my co star Vijay Vasanth were very helpful in aiding me understand the language and performing as per requirement. Though ‘Jigina‘ is a film against Facebook relationship, Facebook helps me connect to the rest of the world

The story is about a dark guy, who falls in love with a fair girl. The plot is about how the guy overcomes his inferiority complex and succeeds in love. Jigina is an out-and-out comedy film with romance woven to it. The film has been shot across important locations like Goa and Puducherry

Lingusamy, the producer

Jigina deals about a dangerous practice that prevails among the young generation in terms of false identity in the social media. Jigina’s script is of an untouched area. It revolves around the perils of social media. These type of scripts are the need of the hour. My company’s track record with content-oriented small films like Vazhakku en 18, Sathuranga Vettai, Goli Soda and Manja Pai to list a few, has been phenomenal. I am confident that Jigina will follow the same path.

The recent Malayalam film Oru Vadakkan Selfie which dealt about the same plot, handled the subject sensitively in a subtle, light-hearted tone without any in-your-face dialogues and preachiness. If Nandha Periyasami manages to crack the formula, Jigina has everything to be an added feather in the cap of Thirupathi Brothers’ successful ventures.

Here is a collage of few memes by Jigina Promotion Team that are making waves among netizens.
