Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has created box-office history by crossing the 800 crore milestone worldwide. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action entertainer has become the first Tamil film to achieve this remarkable feat. The film reached the milestone on its 18th day in theatres, setting a new benchmark for the Tamil film industry.
According to Sacnilk estimates, Jailer 2 has grossed approximately 807.25 crore worldwide as of November 1. The film has collected 456.30 crore net in India, with its domestic gross standing at 533.75 crore. Meanwhile, the overseas market has contributed 273.50 crore to its worldwide total. This impressive performance has further strengthened the film’s position among the biggest Indian blockbusters of 2026.
Jailer 2 has grossed over 190 crore in Tamilnadu and currently ranks fourth among the state’s all time highest grossing films, behind The GOAT, PS1 and Leo, all of which have crossed 200 crore.
With this achievement, Jailer 2 has surpassed Rajinikanth’s own 2.0 to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. Shankar’s 2018 science-fiction film had previously held the record with a reported worldwide collection of 723.30 crore. The sequel has also overtaken the lifetime collections of several major Indian blockbusters, including Aamir Khan’s PK and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava.
The film has also delivered an exceptional performance in overseas markets. Its estimated collection of 273.50 crore has taken it past the overseas box-office record of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2, which reportedly earned around 271 crore internationally. Furthermore, Jailer 2 has recorded more than 3.08 crore theatrical footfalls, highlighting its impressive reach across different markets.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 features Rajinikanth reprising his popular role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel brings back several familiar faces, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, while adding prominent names such as SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film also features special appearances by Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar and Hrithik Roshan. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music and background score.
With the 800 crore milestone now achieved, Jailer 2 has further elevated Rajinikanth’s box-office standing and created a historic moment for Tamil cinema. The film’s strong worldwide performance has also raised expectations about how far its theatrical run can go. Its next target will be to build on this record-breaking success as it continues its journey towards a higher worldwide gross.
